Sofia Airport welcomed the first VIP guests to “Sofia Film Fest”. Franco Nero and his entourage received a traditional Bulgarian martenitsa and the ladies – a rose as well on the occasion of 8 March. The actors were pleasantly surprised and showed interest towards the Bulgarian tradition that was narrated by the girls working at the Business Lounge.

In February 2015 Sofia Airport experienced growth according to all indicators
Passengers
Sofia Airport ended the shortest month of 2015 with a total of 270 622 serviced passengers, which constituted a 4.6 % increase as compared to the same period last year.

Photo Exhibition of Dancing Bears Park
Until mid-April at Terminal 2 atrium passengers and guests to the airport can view a photo exhibition on Dancing Bears Park established in Belitsa 15 years ago under a project of the International Animal Welfare Organization.
The Bulgarian office of the organization - “Four Pawns” presents 60 photos telling the story of the park from the first rescued bears in 2000 – Kalina, Mariana and Stefan, to the last bears that found sanctuary the previous year – Gabriela and Nasko.

Recognition for Sofia Airport management
At the annual meeting of Bulgarian Airlines Association, Mr. Hristo Shterionov, Executive Director of Sofia Airport, and Mr. Tihomir Ivanov, Chairman of the Board of Directors, were awarded certificates by Chairman Mr. Svetoslav Stanulov for preserving the historical heritage of Bulgarian civil aviation and in relation to the 100th anniversary of Bulgarian aircraft manufacturing industry. Mr. Ivanov pointed out that he accepted the award as recognition of the professionalism of the people working at the airport and dedicated it to them.
Sofia Airport Summer Schedule
The Summer Flight Schedule of Sofia Airport comes into effect on 29 March. It offers direct flights to 50 different cities in Europe and Middle East. Over 10 500 flights are scheduled for the summer season. Twenty-two airlines will operate scheduled flights to the Bulgarian capital city.
Every day two airlines offer convenient connection from Sofia Airport to Vienna with 34 flights per week.
The flights to London, the most popular destination, equal to 31 per week. Passengers can choose between four air carriers and three airports.
