Sofia Airport has the potential to become one of the largest and most modern airports in the Balkans. This was said by Ivaylo Moskovski, Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, at the event marking the 80th anniversary of Sofia Airport. He announced that more than 4 million and 400,000 passengers had been served at the airport since the beginning of 2017, which was a 41% increase compared to the same period last year.

Over 4 million passengers for the first 8 months of 2017

Sofia Airport maintains a trend of positive results. In the first eight months of the year a total of 4 363 140 people passed through Sofia Airport, which is an increase of 41% compared to the same period last year. In August, Sofia Airport served 33% more passengers or a total of 615 544.
